About RHYV50GM.MID and RHYV50GM.SYX

For the Yamaha V50 FM-synthesizer/workstation

The Yamaha V50 has a built in Rhythm section with PCM quality
drumsounds. This is a useful addition to the FM synth sounds.

But since the V50 is a synth of the pre-General-Midi era, the factory
rhythm setup and key assign settings are not compatible with the GM
standard that is commonly used today.

The files supplied in this archive can partly solve this problem. The
files contain System Exclusive data (SYSR, RINST, and RKAT1) to make
the V50 rhythm settings more or less GM compatible. This makes it
easier to use the V50 together with modern Midi equipment, or to play
and/or record GM-compatible rhythm sequences.

You have made the data available in 2 formats.
RHYV50GM.MID is a standard midi file that can be loaded in your
sequencer and then played back to send the SysEx data to the V50.
RHYV50GM.SYX is the same data in pure SysEx format, to be used with
any midi bulkdump utility.

I hope you can use it. Have fun!

The next step would be to program a set of 100 GM-emulating FM
patches, for even more almost-GM-compatible performance power...
Is there someone out there who wants to try this? Let me know:
