Test ribbonu T.Bone RB100
To bude mozna tou mistnosti.
Tim padem zepredu ma jiny zvuk nez zezadu. Z druhe strany to jeste budu muset vyzkouset.

Did you ever compare a Royer side by side with a RB100??
I have a rb100, RB500s(with modified transformers) and Royer 122s. You can easily hear the quality difference between the chinese ribbons and the royers. If you don´t, i don´t know.......
BUT the RB100 are more like the royers than the RB500.
RB500 are more like an joke-effect microfone. Extremely cool, fat, creamy or call it muddy, dark, low output. It´s the same:-)
The RB100 are even cheaper and sound more like the well balanced Royers BUT they don´t sound as good (and it´s not so easy to change their transformer, because they are smaller).
You can get a 2 channel converter USB Box for 80€ and you can get a rosetta 200.
It´s the same: you can buy a RB100 or a real quality mic. Both work fine.
BUT don´t believe this stupid hype that 80€ chinese made mic´s are really as good as a 1000€ + Royer. Just NOT true.
And one more thing:
ALL THE T-BONE CONDENSER MICS A TOTAL CRAP!!!!!!!
the ribbons are really cool considering the price(!). Go figure.
Cheers!

Just got my Rb100 but never used a Royer, I own also the Rb500 and the rm700 from thoman.
3 words: get them all!!!
the Rb100 is a great soundin mic, deep and clear with a strong character. at 80 or so euro get at least 2
They all look great and sound even better, Rb100 is gonna be my favourite...
BTW it really smokes with an Enhanced audio m600, sonically and visually.

Ribbon mics are more mellow / darker than condensers and been a low distortion source, they take a tone of eq.
Try the RB700 which is like the Cascade Fathead. It is nice. The RB500 is rather weird; is more of an effect mic for: drums room mic, electric gtr.

Hum...I bought a rb500 a year ago. I had time to experiment with a lot of things...
I have a pretty good idea of pros and cons, IMHO
cons: my cable its only 2 meters long! Its not enough to reach the input box!
This mic has a lot of self noise, sometimes too much to be used. Soft sources are almost impossible to track with this mic, unless you use some x-noise reduction afterwards...
This mic has very weak output signal. Even with my sytek that has loads of headroom I have to open the input full clockwise! More noise
Soundwise, it enhances too much bass frequencies. 90% of the times I have to hi-pass. It can be muddy on some sources (acoustic guitar for example)
Pros: it´s stupid cheap
it sounds so smooth. When its the right source-pre-combination, it sounds so good, like a much more expensive mic. Clients can spot the difference pretty well. Some say it gentle tickles their ears!
it looks pretty good and solid
cheap and smooth.
So, one should open the mic and take the ribbon protection off? This I didnt know. I have to try it with the api´s as soon as they arrive...
